In our syllabus, it's neatly split into kitchen (culinary), food & beverage service, front office operations, and industrial training. But in reality, for a small-town government college like mine, the 'industrial training' often means a *swalpa adjust maadi* arrangement at a local lodge, not the fancy five-star hotels they promise. My own cousin took hotel management and spent his 'front office' training as a glorified luggage boy at a bus-station hotel. The books have *chamka*, but the ground experience can be very humble.
