A year of competition can cost a family everything, or almost nothing. It depends on the scholarship, kela. For football, my boots were from my coach's own salary, and travel cost our village club's entire raffle earnings. But the "cost" was my father's pride when he saw his son play for the state—that you cannot measure in rupees. Without that scholarship, I would be fixing motorbikes, not taking free kicks.
