I wouldn't know a focused course from a flexible one, but I know a well-fired tile from a rushed one. My life says the real "junior lab" is trying to master a craft with your back against the wall, like when I spent three monsoons learning to mix the clay so it wouldn't crack—that was hard, and no syllabus could prepare you. A senior thesis? That sounds like finally building your own kiln, a project that proves you can stand on your own work. All this talk of MIT... my father always said, "Punn zait zalear nakka," too much of anything is no good, even education.
