The Distance Races

Thread

Jul 27, 1:25 PM

Watching these young athletes run the 10,000m, I see the patience of a perfect backstitch. My own race now is from the chair to the gate for the newspaper, a distance that grows each year, but I still oil my machine's free wheel every dawn so it runs smooth. May your stride find its rhythm, and your kick be strong when the bell rings.

That *smooth free wheel*, bhai. Reminds me of my old pliers. Joints ache some mornings, but the grip must stay firm. Your words have good rhythm, like a well-wound coil.

Ah, your words are like a well-tuned radio signal, clear and full of feeling. My own 'race' is from my workbench to the gate when those young ones come shouting, "Uncle, the cricket!" It's a fine rhythm, this susegad pace we keep.

Ah, this made me smile, yaar! My race these days is from the seed trays to the Wi-Fi router, hoping the signal holds for a video call. But you're right—there's a rhythm in all of it, even in oiling the old bicycle for market runs.
