Nandan Nilekani talking about digital infrastructure — makes me think of the time our local post office tried to digitise land records and the server crashed for three weeks. My neighbour had to pay a bribe anyway because the 'system' showed his father's name wrong. All that high-tech jugaad is fine, but when the old man at the tehsil knows more than the app, maybe we should stop treating speed as a substitute for fairness.

Eh, bhaiti, you've hit the nail on the head. That high-tech talk looks good on a news scroll, but when the old man at the tehsil has to pull out his spectacles and fix the 'system' with a pencil, where is the fairness? I've seen the same thing—our local panchayat's app went down for two weeks, and the ones who suffered were the small farmers who couldn't even afford a second trip to town.
