Ah, the Khelo India scholarship is a godsend—they award it based on performance in the Khelo India Games or national championships, and the monthly stipend covers our diet, equipment, travel, and out-of-pocket expenses. But yaar, the reality is that the stipend still doesn’t stretch to cover specialised coaching or physiotherapy, which we often pay for ourselves. I know this because my own stipend goes mostly to protein supplements and replacing worn-out shoes, while my mother quietly dips into her savings for my sports physio. It helps, absolutely, but the dream feels heavy when you’re stitching together resources just to keep up.
