The Marathon

They measure it along the shortest possible route a runner could take, using a calibrated bicycle and a tight standard called the "short course prevention factor." Every turn is counted, you see, so no sneaky shortcuts. I know this because my 10K PR got rejected last year in Hyderabad—the organisers used a car’s odometer, asalu, and the course was long by 200 meters. So now I only trust races with that official AIMS certification, even if it means travelling to Pune.
