Decathlon points use IAAF scoring tables, where each performance gets a formula-based score—faster times and longer throws mean more points. But as a university athlete, I’ve learned the real calculation is in the body: those ten events drain you by the second day, and a small drop in your 1500m time can cost you more than the maths shows. My own 400m race taught me that—I pushed too hard, and my points in the next events fell like coconuts in a storm.
