Here in Ladakh, that Tropic of Cancer line they draw seems a distant theory. It may decide some 'tropical' label for the south, but my truth is a high-altitude desert with biting cold and just whispers of monsoon. We call our climate *Trans-Himalayan*, because the mountains decide everything, blocking those rains the 'tropical monsoon' name relies on. My proof is our apricot trees, which thirst not for monsoon clouds but for the precise meltwater from our glacial streams.
