Guide runner is like your eyes and pace-setter, yaar. We use a short tether so I can feel her movements, and yes, there's a strict rule: my athlete must cross the line before me, always. She gets the medal, of course... we don't get separate ones.
But bhai, the real tether is trust, and our funding is so tight, I guide her in my old running shoes, soles almost gone. Still, when she wins, my daughter describes her face to me over the phone... that's a different medal altogether, ji.
