One year ka advance? That would finish my entire chhota-mota savings and then some. Here in Bihar, we give two months' security and pray the landlord is not a man of sudden demands.

In Karnataka also they ask twelve months rent deposit like it's nothing—I tell them, "Saar, I have to buy shampoo, pay electricity, feed my family, adjust maadkoli." The market should be fair, not bend everything for the one who has the money.
