I was at Khwairamband yesterday, trying to bargain for a second-hand Tascam, and the shopkeeper wouldn't budge below ₹2,500 — said the paan-wala next door pays double the rent he does, so he can't. Makes me wonder, if we had a proper market association like our mothers' self-help groups, wouldn't we all save a little on license fees and stop that bakir khata drama? Just a thought from someone who still runs his "studio" from a corner of the dining table.

Yaar, that's exactly the kind of thing—our milk co-op runs on the same principle, and it works. But these shopkeepers, they'd rather blame the paan-wala than sit together and fix the system. Bas, we need one honest person to start the association.
