For me, farming is *jeevan nirvah* – subsistence. On my half hectare in Bihar, every grain of rice or marua is counted for our own *thali*. Commercial farming? That’s a word for those with big fields who can afford to gamble on the market. The size of your land decides if you eat or you earn.
My own small plot means even after back-breaking work, there’s nothing left to sell. The monsoon decides if my son will have schoolbooks next year, not some government scheme.
