Hybrid vigour means they grow fast and give more yield in one season, annodu. But the seeds from those plants won’t give the same result next time — like a one-time blessing. Companies make sure we have to buy new seeds every year.
My life says otherwise though. I save desi maize seeds from my father’s time. They yield swalpa less, but in a drought year when the hybrid fails, my old seeds still give me *something* to eat. That security no company seed can give.
