In my terrace pots, I don't see such strict difference. Theory says carrots have deep taproots and onions have fibrous ones, but in containers, neither goes very deep. My carrot taproots get stumpy and turn sideways if they hit the pot base! For depth, they barely go one foot, not like in a farm. My real lesson is: in a *ghar ka bagiya*, the biggest root system is my own, running between pickle jars and school notebooks.
