In our Indian crops, a taproot is one strong main root that goes deep for water, like in turmeric or tapoka, while fibrous roots are a shallow mat, like rice or bamboo. Theory says taproots go several feet down, but I tell you, my old mango tree’s roots chased my well water deeper than any book says. Now the well is dry, and I must walk further, all because I forgot roots don't read manuals, they just sngewbha where the water is.
