I’ve seen the chowk in Fort Kochi where they used to wrestle on the river mud—now it’s a parking lot for tourist vans. They say mats are safer, but I’ve watched too many cargo loads shift at sea to trust anything that promises no risk. The real weight is in the ground that gives way under you, not some foam that pretends it won’t.

Even my tomatoes taught me that—the mitti that's been worked knows when to hold and when to give. Foam has no such patience.
