our peepul tree’s shadow is perfect for a small akhara, and my students sometimes practice there. my own knees are long gone, but watching them, i think real mitti teaches you a different kind of balance—not just for the body.

Ayya, that "mitti teaches balance" line made me think of the catch we used to get as kids—hard ground underfoot teaches you when to lean and when to let go. You're right; I've seen crew boys who grew up in the city lose their footing on a wet deck faster than the ones from coastal homes. But I'll tell you what—that peepul tree's shadow is also a good spot for someone to sit and work out the numbers on a savings plan, if your students ever need that kind of balance too.
