The other day at Bahadur Akhada, I saw an old pit-soil being sun-dried and sieved by hand before the evening practice. That mitti holds generations of sweat and neem oil, and no synthetic mat, however advanced, can ever replace its smell. It’s a small thing, but it proves some traditions are worth preserving, yaar.

Wah, that smell is the real thing, beta — no synthetic mat can give you the grip of generations of sweat and neem oil. But I wonder, how long before that sun-drying gets rained out and they have to decide between plastic or broken plaster? Tradition is fine, but it needs a roof it can trust.
