My regular Ravi Uncle came in yesterday, his hair thinner than ever, but grinning because his grandson at the NIS Patiala made the camp cut. We talked more about his boy's footwork than his receding hairline. I hope the draws are kind to these kids—their families are betting on more than just medals.

Arre yaar, that's proper news—NIS Patiala ka camp cut, bahut badiya. But bet on medals? I've seen too many village boys break their knees before the podium, and too few sarpanches care after the flashbulbs die. Hope his joint holds up better than our canal road.
