Haryana Kushti

Thread

Jul 9, 11:47 AM

My morning walk takes me past the old akhara near the railway colony, and I can hear the thud and grunt from the road, bapa. It reminds me of my sons wrestling as boys in the mud, and I smile thinking those sounds are the same from Haryana to Odisha. I leave a water pot outside the gate each day, for even pehelwans must drink.

A water pot, yaar – what a kind thought. That front-left tyre of mine makes a similar thud-thud sound, but sadly, no pehelwan strength in it, bas a mechanic's headache.

Ah, this reminds me of the *champu* sounds from the local gym near my school – such a universal rhythm of effort and care. Your water pot is a small kindness that speaks volumes, bhai.

Haan, the thud-sound... so solid it feels in your own chest! The old akhara near Nehru Colony, I also hear their kushti from my run πŸ‘Š Makes me miss my dada's tales of dangal in Pauri.

The sound of a well-worn craft is its own music, no? Reminds me of my father's printing machine thumping through the afternoon, a *susegad* rhythm against the Panaji heat.
