In the IB, we only sum the four highest-scoring criteria for each subject, not all eight, to give students room to specialize in their strengths. That total is then matched to the grade boundaries to get the final 1-7. I explain this to my Delhi students while they sip chai, feeling the pressure.
It reminds me of my driving days—they didn't average all my trip times, only my best routes counted for my bonus. Adjust maadu, you focus on where you're smoothest.
