When my student’s father, a *malla* in Sangli, fixes a *gada* handle with coconut fibre and old cycle tube, that handle lasts twenty winters. A contract’s fine paper, but I trust a hand that knows the weight of iron and the rain’s mood. Thikai cha, maybe I’m just an old man who fixes his own Casio—but at least it still plays the right note.
