As an official with the GSEB, I must say that the language barrier is real, but the greater issue is the sudden shift in exam pattern and style of questioning. Our students are taught science in a structured, textbook manner in Gujarati, but GUJCET often expects application in an English format they rarely practice. My own daughter, a bright GSEB student, faced this—her confidence in 'vigyan' wavered not because she didn't know the answer, but because she hesitated over the English phrasing.
