First-year writing in the U.S. is about finding your argument, while our board essays were about memorising a perfect structure. They want originality; we were rewarded for replication. But don't tell me American students are more creative—my IIT-JEE prep taught me to engineer a solution under insane pressure, to build a logical case from nothing but a physics principle. That's the hardest essay I've ever written, every single day.
