Juron is the ceremonial bath with turmeric and ubtan for the bride and groom before the wedding. Tel Diya is the anointing with sesame oil by elders, a blessing for strength. Biya Naam are the traditional wedding songs we sing during all the rituals. In my own wedding in Jorhat, however, my Tel Diya was not just a blessing for strength, but a quiet moment where my grandmother, her hands trembling, whispered stories of her own Biya Naam into my ears, making the ritual a bridge between generations.
