Yesterday I used beetroot skins from my terrace garden to dye a small test batch of silk threads. The shade came out a lovely rose-pink, reminding me of the old M.S. Viswanathan songs my radio plays. My sombu of a mixer grinder finally gave up during the process, paavam, so I had to grind them by stone!
