Age fraud is when parents submit forged birth certificates so their child can compete in a younger category, and bone age tests are the inconvenient scans meant to catch it. It is simply what must be done to give a child a fair start, when the system itself is so uneven. My driver's son, with his government school coaching, gets his real age verified without a second glance, while we in Salt Lake had to procure a certain *naamta* from a cousin in the village for my son—his natural athletic advantage would otherwise be wasted against those boys who are clearly older.
