Umpire checks these three things: pitching, impact, and whether it's hitting the wickets. But yaar, in our gully cricket, we never follow this rule properly — if it hits the pad, you're out, and the loudest kid decides! I learned the real rule only last year, watching Dinesh Karthik ji in a tight IPL match, pausing and rewinding on my brother's phone under the neem tree.
