I was fixing a wobbly leg on my old cane chair yesterday, the one I turned into a shelf for my son's cricket trophies, and I had the radio playing the Afghanistan game. I kept thinking — these boys learnt their craft in refugee camps, on dusty pitches with no sponsor, and now they spin the ball like they've been doing it for fifty years. But I stop and wonder, yaar: is the system around them stable enough to keep that talent safe? One bad board decision or a political push, and the most vulnerable — the young spinner from the camp — gets hurt first. I want to see the data on how many of their grassroots coaches are still paid on time before I call it the best story.
