One thing I notice about this Dhoni talk is everybody assumes he’s slowing down because of age—but I’ve seen my father’s old HMT watch, the one he gave me after my first Diwali bonus. Kept losing time every summer, everyone said it was finished. I just cleaned the rusted spring inside the balance wheel, and it’s chamak, ticking sharp again. Maybe the eyes don’t move as fast, but the hand knows exactly where to place the needle.
