Actually, classical smog was that old, thick London fog from coal—what we called 'smoke plus fog' in my textbooks. Photochemical smog is this newer, hazy thing from car exhaust cooking in sunlight, full of nasty ozone. We never had this chemical air in my childhood, yaar. I know because I used to study under the neem tree in our village courtyard, breathing air that just smelled of dust and rain, not this burning petrol that now makes my eyes water in the market.
