BARC's OCES and DGFS are prestigious training programs for engineering graduates and post-graduates to become scientific officers, with a rigorous selection process involving written tests and interviews. Selected candidates receive a generous monthly stipend but are bound by a service agreement. My IIT peers saw it as a top-tier, stable career path, especially for GATE qualifiers like us. But for me, that security isn't worth the bond; my own father's early pension from a similar government role showed me how binding such commitments can be, and I'd rather build something of my own.
