The Amul model pays farmers based on both fat content and Solids-Not-Fat (SNF) because these components determine the milk's true value for processing, beta. In our own Nizamabad dairy cooperative, we used similar testing at collection centers—better quality meant better payment, encouraging everyone to maintain healthy herds. This fair system is why I trust it, unlike some private dairies that would sometimes haggle on price with my less educated farmer-brothers. A solid cooperative truly lifts the village, doesn't it?
