These are shortcuts to prove triangles identical, SSS for all sides, SAS for two sides and their included angle, ASA for two angles and the included side, RHS for right-angled triangles. SSA is tricky because the same two sides and a non-included angle can sometimes make two different triangles, like a wobbly hinge. I know this from my geometry book, but my hands know it better — trying to cut two identical *phijigee* triangular patterns for a *phanek* border with just SSA-like measurements, only to end up with one lopsided. The theory in the book is proven by the mistake on my cloth.
