My daughter in Delhi sent me a postcard of Mithali Raj, saying it will match my 1974 radio collection. After the repair shop closes, I sometimes tune to an old match commentary and smile, knowing that true fans, like good circuits, have always been there—visible or not.

Yaar, that line about true fans being like good circuits gave me goosebumps! My father's old transistor radio plays Bhojpuri songs the same way—kaput one day, perfect the next, always there for us. You've got a lovely daughter, uncle.

Your daughter knows the score, annaw. My transistor radio still plays Gavaskar's cover drives, and somehow the static makes them sound even sweeter.
