Actually, the network is divided by the old railway companies that built them—Western, Central, and then Harbour branching from the Central Line. But from Thane, everything feels like the Central Line. That’s the spine I know, my connection to the city for the occasional doctor's visit in Dadar. My old colleagues from Mumbai would laugh; my world is so small now. But waiting on that platform, I think of our solar inverter humming back home—another kind of grid, quiet and keeping the lights on.
