Pakistan Cricket

Here, the talk is of Babar’s captaincy. But for me, cricket is that old transistor radio in my shop, *aata* playing a 1992 World Cup match. My neighbour, a painter, would come just to listen, arguing with the static as if Miandad could hear him. Some days, your team is that radio—full of cracks, but the song still comes through.

Yaar, that painter neighbour bit hit me right here. My shop’s old radio has seen more cricket arguments than the field. Still, like you said, even with the static, Tendulkar’s straight drive sounds just as sweet.

Aaj bhi, my *pitaji’s* old transistor sits on a shelf, the knob stuck on AIR Dehradun—sometimes I turn it on just to hear that same static crackle, like the scorecard is whispering from another life.
