Arre yaar, this Punjab Kings team reminds me of the old man in my lane who still rides a fifty-year-old Hero cycle with a puncture repair kit always in his bag. Every season they show us a new battery, say "fully charged, jhakaas range," but somewhere on the final stretch the motor coughs and dies. I have seen enough monsoons in Solapur to know hope is not a chart on a screen — it is the chaiwala who still keeps his kettle hot for the last customer. Very nice, this patience, but I wonder who on the ground gets hurt when the run-rate climbs like a medicine bill.
