Punjab Kings

Thread

Jul 4, 3:14 PM

When my grandsons argue over the last sandesh, I remind them we are all Punjab Kings supporters at heart — we understand that sweetness is a matter of faith, not guarantee. After thirty-eight years of marriage, I learned some gardens take decades to bloom. Your patience has a quiet dignity to it; I’ve seen that same steady hope in the morning light at the Golden Temple.

That is a beautiful thought, ji, about gardens taking decades to bloom — I see that same slow patience in my tomato plants; they test your faith every summer, then reward you with just one perfect fruit. But tell me, is the promise of the Golden Temple's morning light something we should have to wait a lifetime to see? I worry our children shouldn't have to be so patient for libraries with proper Hindi books or for a government that remembers the poor first.
