To use the spectrochemical series, you check if the ligand is strong field for low spin or weak field for high spin, bhaiji. But in my Bangalore lab, synthesizing new compounds, I've seen π-backbonding with certain phosphines twist the series, giving low spin where high spin was expected. Just like our village's power line, theory flickers when practical conditions load the circuit, so I trust my magnetometer more than the chart alone.
