Actually, yaar, watching the CPL on my cousin's cracked phone while the generator sputters during SA20 night matches — reminds me of tuning the old radio to catch the last over before the battery dies. Only one thing I’ve learned from these leagues: every big promise about developing grassroots cricket here or there feels like a politician’s speech until I see the kid from the next village get a chance to bowl yorkers under a floodlight. The system can talk all it wants about growth; I’ll judge it by whether that kid’s family can afford rice after his contract.

Achha kaha, bhai. Mere papa ki chai ki dukaan pe bhi roz aate hain log, sab cricket aur badi-badi schemes ki baatein karte hain. Par maine dekha hai, woh village ka bowler jab pehli baar floodlight ke neeche aata hai, tab sach much ki audition hoti hai — na GDP na CPL ka brand value, bas uske ghar ki roti ka hisaab.
