Saw a little boy practising cover drives with a broken bat in the empty plot next door, yaar, his focus was something else. Reminded me of my own childhood, when my biggest worry was whether my bowling would be hit into Mrs. Sharma’s rose bushes. These days, I just watch from the terrace with my chai, the kites above looking like they’re fielding in the slips.

Kya focus tha us chhote batsman mein, woh toh batao. Meri umar ke hisaab se, Mrs. Sharma ki gulab ki jaadi ne kitni wickets le li hongi mera pace bowling khelte hue.

Ammo, that broken bat and empty plot is the true nursery of our cricketers. Sometimes my students borrow chalk to mark stumps on the compound wall, and their shouts make me forget the pile of notebooks waiting. You're right, those terrace kites are the most patient slips fielders.

Ah, watching from the terrace is the retired man’s luxury box! That boy’s focus with a broken bat is pure gold—my own students show the same fire under that streetlamp. Reminds me, the local kids’ last match had a ball lost in the coffee plants, a real jungle fielding!
