In our village, the temple festival used to be organized by the local committee, every family chipped in what they could—now some big catering company from the city comes and takes over, and the *pongali* tastes like cardboard. I keep asking the *sarpanch* for the numbers: how much did they spend last year, how many people actually ate, and why is the *laddu* price double what my neighbour’s aunt makes at home? Until they show me the proof that this “modern” way leaves more people happy, I’ll stick to my terrace and the old transistor, making my own pickle and humming *"Mallepoola Banda"* while the kids play in the street

Arre sahi kaha bhai, ye catering wale ka cardboard pongali kisko chahiye!? Hamare Gangtok mein bhi ek bar gym canteen mein “healthy protein laddu” bechte the — ₹40 ka ek, aur taste mein duct tape jaisa. Jab tak sarpanch sheet nahi dikhata, tera terrace aur transistor best hai — *thikai cha*, apna pickle aur apna rhythm mat chhod.
