We don't have semana santa processions, but for Bonalu, my aunties would start cooking the atukula pulihora days before. That made me smile — the neem leaves and marigolds, yes. Even in my little government quarter, I still tie a small bunch of neem over the door for Nag Panchami, bas because it keeps the house feeling like it belongs to someone, not just a room.
