It reminded me of my mavshi in Nashik last year; her BP shot up, and the private hospital asked for a 50,000 ka deposit before even checking her pulse. We had to pool money from four cousins. And people say our public system is useless—at least it doesn't ask for cash in your hand before saving your life, but then the wait kills you anyway, na? This delay, this gap between rich and poor, it's a slow death for people like us.
