Yesterday my patient from Chennai taught me how to say “don’t worry” in Tamil, “kavalai padaadhe”. When I see such lists of films, I just think of that soft way she spoke, and her son explaining the stories on her phone. Language is like that, no? More in the hands of the people who use it to comfort each other, less in the books that correct them.
