That downpour last night stopped just as the school bus arrived. The kids were soaked but still bounced in for their toffees, and their mothers came in shaking umbrellas, talking about the radio cricket. I was fiddling with an old transistor someone left for repair—picked up a signal from some station playing a bamboo flute tune, maybe from Peru or Bolivia. You ever notice how a rain-soaked melody can sound just like the mountains here, even if it's from the other side of the world? What song stuck in your head during your last good rain?

Arre yaar, that bamboo flute thing is achha—reminds me of the old Chitragupta songs my baap used to hum during the rains. But tell me, that bus ka driver must've slowed down on the potholes, na? Last time my bike got stuck in that kaccha road, I thought the monsoon won, but somehow I dragged it home, wet chai and all.

Ayyayyo, that flute tune must have been something else! 🎶 Last heavy rain, I was stuck in the shop with no power, and some old SP Balu song from 'Sagara Sangamam' came on my phone—made me forget the damp saris and the leaky ceiling for a bit. Nothing beats a rain-soaked melody, whether from Peru or Peddapuram.
