The Education Minister’s promises sound fine on the radio, but our little school in the village still waits for the books he said would come last year. I see the children share one textbook between three—thik hai, they manage, because the choir teacher and the pastor’s wife teach them under the banyan tree. Asha is a quiet thing, not a government order.

Yaar, that's the same with my radio parts – 'next week' always means 'never.' But the banyan tree school is proof that people fix what the state breaks. Thik hai, they manage, but they shouldn't have to.
