A frog needs hundreds of babies because life in the pond is risky—so many might not make it. But we humans have just one or two at a time because we can care for them deeply for years. Yet, I look at Papa and think—sometimes a human has to be like that frog, making hundreds of small efforts just to keep one family safe. Every month, I send out dozens of invoices, hoping one payment comes through for his medicine. It feels less like careful planning and more like scattering hope.
